A HBCU High School initiative. Educating 9-12 graders about the opportunities that exist in Gaming & Esports by getting a college degree
Corners to colleges overview
HBCU Program – Deserving High school students (9-12th grades) will experience the following during the 1-week summer 2023 Program:
- Exposure to HBCU college life (Programs will be hosted on our 7-member institution campuses)
- College advisors will work with the students in the campus gaming & innovation Labs
- Students will work on real case studies and projects from our corporate partners
- Students will receive a certificate of completion, special awards &/or scholarships to one of our BCGA member institutions

Summer Corners to Colleges Agenda (1 Week)
Sunday, Day 1
- Check-in 5-8pm (Provide COVID-19 negative test results &/or proof of covid-19 vaccination)
- Welcome Mixer sponsored by McDonald’s or Papa John’s.
Monday, Day 2
- Campus Tour
- HBCU admissions, financial aid & scholarships presentation
- Life as an HBCU Student - SGA President or Vice President speaks, student-athlete & A student member of your gaming Esports program
- Lecture – Esports 101 & History of Gaming
- Board Games Night
Tuesday, Day 3
- Degrees & minors in Gaming & Esports Presentation by the Dean or VP of Academic Affairs about the majors and programs offered that fit into the gaming + esports careers
- Lecture – History of Blacks & Women of color in gaming
- Case Study competition
- Movie Night Sponsored by McDonald’s or Papa John’s
Wednesday, Day 4
- BCGA Organization Overview Presentation
- Lecture – Esports organizations, terminologies, top pro gamers & top female gamers
- Introduction to Case study – Corporate partner
- Esports Tournament (Games TBD)
Thursday, Day 5
- College Readiness and Requirements
- Case Study concludes
- Skating / Bowling Night off campus
Friday, Day 6
- Awards Ceremony & Closing Lunch
- Check-out 3-6pm

Student Requirements:
- Official Transcript showing a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.
- Two (2) letters of recommendations: 1(one) from a Teacher/Guidance Counselor and 1(one) from a community representative or non-profit organization.
